Hello!!

Hello! I have returned from a break that I thoroughly enjoyed. I accomplished much of what I had planned and the rest of the plan is tucked away in a drawer. Not to worry, all in good time.

I hope that some of the bloggers and readers will find me again. Please let me know if you have checked in.

Because it is the beginning of a new year and many people make many resolutions, I am going to give my version of New Year’s resolutions. It is certainly not far astray from a lot of peoples’ versions but it should at least be mentioned.

I have not made any New Year resolutions for 36 years. I probably started making them when I was 18 or so.  The time between 18 to 31 produced 13 resolutions that were not kept, forgotten or dismissed as being dumb. The rest of my life involved making daily resolutions to about the age of 60. That amounts to over 10,000 resolutions. The majority of these were not written in stone and thus dismissed.   At the age of 60 I figured that I was going to do what I thought best at the time. The hell with the rest. Why should I make myself feel guilty? Not doing it.

But then came this year. Blame it on my lack of patience at this age for anything that is frivolous, ridiculous or just plain stupid - but this year I am making a New Year resolution that has subheadings. Here it is!

I resolve not to have certain words or names cross my lips or be read about:

Miley Cyrus

Justin Bieber

Kardashian Family

A lot of politicians

Federal budget

Bipartisan

Suicide bomber

Terrorist

Syria

Hate crimes

George Zimmerman

Casey Anthony

Michael Bolton commercials

O.J. Simpson

School attacks

Serial killers

Rapists

Drive-by shootings

Child molesters

Home invasions

And much, much more …..

History repeats itself - the names and dates are changed, that’s all. I have heard it all before. I am not going to clutter my mind or my life with this crap anymore. Until a newspaper is published or a news show aired with only good news, I will stop reading and watching. I resolve.

I wish you a healthy, happy and simple 2014. Let’s get on with the simple, good things in life.

Jeanne

p.s.   I read somewhere that a reader should feel good after reading a blog post.  Just this once, forgive me if you don't feel good.

  1. Happy New Year Jeanne. I very rarely watch tv of any description so miss huge amounts of this kind of stuff, it's very liberating :)

  3. there is actually a lot of good going on in the world, but all we hear about is the bad...because that's what "makes news". I personally have not watched the tv news since my baby was born...he is now over 2. I do still hear/read the news, as it is impossible to escape to all that's going on around us. That said, I think it's a wonderful resolution. Happy New Year
