Paid For Babysitting

"Olive Garden is willing foot the bill for your babysitter. The catch? Participating parents have to eat at Olive Garden. According to the Orlando Sentinel, the Italian restaurant chain has teamed up with My Gym to give parents a free night of babysitting on February 7. Parents can drop their kids off at 145 My Gym locations across the country and head to a participating Olive Garden restaurant for an evening of pasta and breadsticks. Apparently the arrangement is meant to promote a two-for-$25 special, but parents won't be limited to that deal. At the end of the night My Gym will refund parents' deposits when they show their Olive Garden meal receipts."

What do you think?  Would you go for this deal?  Would you leave your kids with strangers in a strange place?  I have my doubts about this idea and will be curious to see if it is successful.

"Today is Your Birthday!", Elaine

Yes, Elaine has hit the big "70" today.  Elaine is a wife, mother of three sons, grandmother of six, sister-in-law and sister - my sister.

Elaine is a lady.  She is creative, artistic, loving, a good friend, a woman who, according to her husband, is always right.

Elaine was a teacher who taught with fervor, gusto and passion.  She has inspired many to be better than they thought they could be.

Elaine is funny when she can remember the whole joke she is telling and gets the joke she is listening to.

She is a great cook, sewer and baker.  She is not Martha Stewart but she has come close.

She does not have an athletic bone in her body but rarely missed any game that any of her sons were playing.

Elaine is a beautiful woman - inside and out.

Elaine is loved.

Happy Birthday, Sis!     (Have a great day and remember that you will always be older than me!)

Love, Jeanne

Such an Idea!!!!!

This is such a cool idea from littlemothdesign.   This saves so much clutter on the fridge and walls.  It also makes a perfect keepsake to give a child on his/her 30th, 40th, 50th ...... birthday.

Take a picture of the child's artwork, shrink the size and print.  It is then mounted in the frame.  Voila!!  This is also a great way to document a child's life through the years by making a page for each year.

Good, huh?

A Small Change to This Blog

I have not been posting household, cooking or miscellaneous tips every day.  Not that there aren't any new ones out there but they are becoming harder to find.

What I have started to do is go back through all tips in my posts and put them on their separate pages.  The list is alphabetized.  I have started the page for "household tips" and will add any new tips.  Getting the posted ones listed is taking more time than I thought but I will keep going.

My goal is to produce a really comprehensive reference for all to use.  I hope you like it -

Let's Share

I was in high school and college during the '60's.  I was married in the '70's.  Women's lib was boisterous and loud.  I sang the songs and burned the bra, as did many others.  Equality for women was the goal.  Sexual freedom for women was a mind-blowing concept for many.

My question, and I sure hope people comment, is - what has women's lib done for you?

I'll answer when you answer.  This question is for females of all ages.  Has it been better for you because of women's lib; worse for you; or no change at all?

Let's talk.

What's Wrong with Blue Eye Shadow?

I must start this blog by saying that I no longer wear eye shadow because my eyelids are so droopy that it wouldn't be seen.  I sometimes use a blue eyeliner. That being said, who declared blue eye shadow to be a no-no?  What is wrong with it?

I haven't devoted a lot of research time to this topic because there really isn't anything out there that gives a solid reason not to use it.
It seems to me that using electric blue was a fashion trend years back that went the way of most trends - down the drain.  I guess the fashion faux pas was transferred over to any color blue and women stopped using it.

O.K. - I know this question is of virtually no importance to anyone, but I had to ask because it popped into my head.

Do you wear blue eye shadow?

Real Women

"A real women avoids drama,
she knows her time is precious
and she's not wasting it on
unimportant people or things ..."

                            - Unknown

Is this you?  Have you learned to let the small things go and spend your time on only what is really important?  Do you pick your battles with your kids, no matter what age they are?  Do you not bother with the stupid junk that husbands and boyfriends sometimes do.  Life with CH is sooo much better since I haven't picked up on every little thing that used to bother me.  I can't remember the last time we had anything close to a fight.  We disagree but we do not fight.

Think about it.  How less stressful would your life be if you got rid of the unimportant junk in you life?  Think about it ....
