Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers has passed away. I never met either Don or Phil but their voices made my life a little better.
Their music was soothing, mindful and rocking. I loved it and, as it turned out, so did my current husband. Their music was just another thing that we had in common and helped to build our bond.
We went to a Beach Boys concert about 23 years ago, not knowing that the Everly Brothers were the opening act. We were thrilled but the rest of the audience did not appreciate them. No one paid any attention to them and made so much noise over their singing that we could barely hear them. It was just as bad as if everyone had booed them. Their great career did not deserve this.
"I'll Do My Cryin' In The Rain" was probably my favorite song. I haven't been able to get it out of my head since I heard of Don's passing. I really don't want to.

Hi there,
ReplyDeleteIt was actually Phil who died, and my favourite was Cathy's Clown. Listening to their songs really brings back my youth.

I am such a dork! Thank you for correcting me.
DeleteI enjoyed the Everly Brothers music as well.
ReplyDeleteI understand that they were a big influence on both The Beatles and Simon and Garfunkle. Their music will still be heard for a long long time.
DeleteI had to laugh at your "current husband" was that tongue in cheek, or do you have someone lined up?! Found your blog via Mums Simply Living. I too loved the Everly Brothers.
ReplyDelete"Current husband" is a joke we share. He is my second husband and I want him to keep in mind that he can be replaced. Truthfully, I would never go for
Delete#3. I am glad you found me - where can I find you?
