Brown Sugar

                                                         source: Hainpurefoods.com

Brown sugar is a very relevant ingredient in many, many recipes.  Chocolate chip cookie recipe comes to mind first.  What really stinks is when you are ready to start mxing and find that your brown sugar is as hard as a rock or you don't have any at all.

This will not do.  Here are the preventative and corrective solutions to these problems.

Hard as a rock brown sugar:

Wrap the brown sugar in aluminum foil and bake in the oven at 300 for 5 minutes. Result – nice soft brown sugar.

                                         -or-

Place the brown sugar in the microwave with a bowl of water.  Cook on high until the water is boiling.  Result - nice soft brown sugar.

                                          -or-

Place a piece of bread on your brown sugar in a bowl and microwave for one to two min. as well.

                                           -or-

Store the sugar with a slice of bread to always keep it soft.

                                           -or-

Put a large marshmallow in the brown sugar container and it keeps it soft.

No brown sugar at all:

Make your own brown sugar!

2 cups granulated sugar

3 Tablespoons Unsulphured Molasses

Mix well until all the molasses is incorporated in the sugar.
Use immediately or store in an air tight container.

Wouldn't it be great if all life's problems were this easy to solve?

Meanwhile .... keep it simple and make it real.
